Faculty and Staff
"The first thing required of a teacher is that he be rightly disposed for his task." Maria Montessori
Our excellent staff, some of whom have been with us over 30 years, are dedicated to the care and education of each and every student. Our Lead Montessori Teachers have all attended accredited Montessori teacher education courses and have their Montessori credentials from the most highly regarded Montessori organizations. They are the following:
The American Montessori Society (AMS) is an international organization that has been educating, supporting, and inspiring teachers since 1960.
The National Center for Montessori Education (NCME) has now merged with AMS and all past NCME Credentials are recognized by AMS.
The International Association for Progressive Montessorians (IAPM) - an international Montessori teacher education organization originally in Europe and now also in Canada and the US.
The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori herself.
Several members of our faculty are also instructors for the Montessori Center for Teacher Education and have taught many of the Montessori teachers in San Diego County in addition to teachers throughout the United States and around the globe. Our school has long been the site of a prominent center dedicated to the education of teachers as well as students. Our involvement with the Montessori Center for Teacher Education benefits the school in many ways.
First of all, every potential teacher from our course must fulfill a year of student teaching before receiving a Montessori credential, and we are fortunate to have a ready supply of those interns anxious to work in our school.
Secondly, our administration and several of our teachers are actively involved in the teaching of new Montessorians. This keeps standards high and assures that we remain connected to the the very essence of the Montessori philosophy and method.
Experienced teachers at our school also benefit from association with these student teachers. Seeing the beauty of Montessori through the enthusiastic eyes of these new converts keeps our approach fresh and our beliefs reaffirmed.
